Will the Same Instagram Reel Transcript Change on a Second Run?
In our two-run check of one public Reel on XAPN, both runs finished with the same text length and checksum. That is a repeatability observation for one link in one browser session, not a character-by-character proof, an accuracy test, or a guarantee for every Reel.
Try the Reel transcript toolOur two-run check
On October 8, 2026 (Los Angeles time), we opened the live XAPN tool in the Codex in-app browser. We left the public example Reel link already present in the input and selected Get transcript. The first run reached Done. and displayed nonempty text. We recorded the result's character count and a 32-bit FNV-1a checksum without republishing the creator's words.
Without changing the link or reloading the page, we selected Get transcript again. The result area cleared while the tool fetched audio, then the second run also reached Done.. The second displayed result had the same character count and checksum as the first. A direct character-by-character comparison of the two outputs was not separately run; matching checksums are strong evidence of equality for this specific pair, not a mathematical guarantee against collisions.
| Observation | First run | Second run |
|---|---|---|
| Final status | Done. | Done. |
| Displayed characters | 1,149 | 1,149 |
| FNV-1a checksum | ff4178c1 | ff4178c1 |
The browser stayed on the same page, so the speech recognizer object could be reused. The site still made a fresh audio request on the second run; it did not simply redisplay a saved transcript. We did not reset the browser cache, compare different devices, or independently check the words against the Reel's audio. The test does not establish a first-run model download time or a general failure rate.
Scope: one public example, two sequential runs, one browser session. The checksum was calculated over the displayed result text; it is a comparison aid, not a transcript quality score.
If your repeat run differs
First check that the exact same public link was submitted and that both runs reached Done. with visible words. A failed audio request is not a changed transcript. If both finish but the wording differs, keep both versions and listen to the source before quoting either one. Even identical outputs can repeat the same recognition mistake.
For a stopped run, use the failure-stage guide. To preserve a finished result before rerunning, use Copy or the TXT download; selecting Get transcript clears the previous on-screen text. This page addresses repeated results, not caption availability or cross-platform links.
Questions
Does matching text mean the transcript is correct? No. It only means the two results matched under this comparison. Check names, numbers, and quotations against the audio.
Does the site save previous transcripts? The tested tool does not show a history. Save a copy yourself before starting another run.
Repeated runs are useful only when you preserve the first output. You can turn an Instagram Reel into text from one public link and save that draft before a second run. Compare the two texts line by line instead of relying on memory.
