Instagram Reel Transcript

Turn an Instagram Reel to text by pasting a public link. Instagram Reel transcription runs in your browser after the service fetches the audio. To transcribe Instagram Reel speech, use the tool below, then copy or download your reel transcript.

Ready.

Uses the free Whisper tiny English model in-browser. No API key or paid service.

How to transcribe an Instagram Reel

  1. Copy the link to a public Reel. In the app, open the Reel and use the share menu to copy its link; on the web, copy the address from the browser bar.
  2. Paste the link into the field above and select Get transcript.
  3. The audio is retrieved, then transcribed in your browser. When the status reads Done, use Copy to take the text or Download .txt to save it.

What you get

A plain-text transcript of the spoken words in the Reel, returned as one block of text that is ready to paste into notes, subtitles, a document, or a translation tool. Punctuation and capitalisation come from the speech model and are approximate, and no timestamps are included.

What makes this one different

Most Instagram transcript tools are built to convert you into a user: sign up here, five free transcripts a day, trim anything over two minutes, download the video and upload it. This tool does none of that, and the reasons are worth stating plainly.

That is only half the picture. This tool is also worse than several alternatives at things that matter — languages other than English, subtitle files with timestamps, accuracy, and bulk work. The comparison of Instagram transcript tools sets out exactly where it loses and which tool to use instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is this free to use?

Yes. There is no account, no API key, and no payment. The transcription runs on your own device using a free speech-recognition model, which is why nothing has to be charged for.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The first transcript downloads a small speech model into your browser; later runs reuse the copy already cached there. A modern desktop or mobile browser is all that is required.

Do you keep my Reel link or the transcript?

The transcript is produced in your browser and is never uploaded. The Reel link is sent to this service only so that the audio for that one request can be retrieved. The privacy policy sets out the details.

Can I transcribe a private Instagram Reel?

No. The tool only retrieves Reels that are publicly reachable, so a private, followers-only, or deleted Reel cannot be transcribed. Nothing about your own Instagram login is used.

Which languages are supported?

English only. The in-browser model used here is the English version of Whisper tiny, so transcripts in other languages will be inaccurate rather than merely unpolished.

Why did my Reel fail?

The usual reasons are that the Reel is not public, has been removed, is restricted in the region the audio is fetched from, contains no speech at all, or its audio simply could not be downloaded. Reels also change availability over time, so a link that worked yesterday can stop working.

How accurate is the transcript?

It is a small on-device model, so it is fast and free but less accurate than a paid transcription service. Clear speech in a quiet recording works best. Names, brand terms, technical jargon, and strong accents are the places where it most often goes wrong, so read the result before publishing it.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in a current version of Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Firefox. Transcription is more demanding than ordinary browsing, so an older phone may take noticeably longer on long Reels.
