Privacy Policy
This policy explains what happens to information when you use Reel Transcript at xapn.com. In short: you can use the tool without an account, the transcript is produced on your own device, and the Reel link you paste is used only to retrieve the audio for that one request.
What is processed when you use the tool
- The Reel URL you paste. It is sent to this service so that the audio for that Reel can be retrieved. It is used for that request and is not added to a public index or a user profile.
- The Reel's audio. The service retrieves the audio and returns it to your browser so it can be transcribed. Audio is held only while the request is being processed and is overwritten as new requests arrive rather than kept as an archive.
- The transcript. This is produced in your browser by a speech-recognition model running on your own device. It is not uploaded to this service.
What is not collected
- No account, email address, or password is required to use the tool.
- No transcript history is kept for you, and there is no dashboard of past transcriptions.
- No Instagram credentials are requested or used. The tool only reads Reels that are already public.
- The audio is not sent to a third-party transcription provider.
Storage in your browser
The first time you use the tool, your browser downloads a speech-recognition model so that later runs do not have to download it again. Your browser stores that model in its own cache, on your device. Clearing your browser's site data removes it; the next run will simply download it again. This site does not use that cache to identify you.
Cookies and advertising
This site does not currently run advertising. With your permission, it loads Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-ZH8NN381XJ) to measure page views and interactions such as scrolling and outbound clicks. Google may process device and browser information, approximate location, and page paths for these reports. The Analytics script is not loaded until you select “Allow analytics”. If you select “No thanks”, it is not loaded. Your choice is stored in your browser so you are not asked on every page.
You can change your choice using . If you withdraw permission, this site removes its Google Analytics cookies where the browser allows it and stops loading Analytics on subsequent pages. You can also clear this site's data in your browser. See Google's Privacy Policy for Google's processing. If advertising is enabled in the future, this policy will be updated first.
Third parties involved
- Instagram hosts the public Reel whose audio is retrieved. Your use of Instagram is governed by Instagram's own policies.
- Content delivery networks serve the page assets and the browser transcription model.
- Hosting and network providers carry the traffic to this site and, like most web servers, may record standard request information such as IP address, timestamp, and user agent for security and operational purposes.
Data retention
Request data is kept only as long as it is needed to serve the request and to keep the service running securely. Because there is no account system, there is no long-term profile of your activity to retain or delete.
Children
This tool is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone below the age at which they can consent to data processing in their own jurisdiction.
Your choices
- You can use the tool without submitting anything beyond a public Reel link.
- You can clear the cached model at any time through your browser's site-data settings.
- You can contact us to ask what, if anything, is held in relation to a request you made.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page will change with it. Material changes affecting how information is used will be reflected here rather than applied silently.
