About Reel Transcript

Reel Transcript is a free, independent tool that turns the spoken audio in a single public Instagram Reel into plain text. It exists because watching a Reel is a poor way to quote it, search it, or translate it — and because the usual transcription services want an account, a credit card, or a file upload before they will do anything at all.

Paste a public Reel link and the tool retrieves that Reel's audio for the duration of your request. Your browser then transcribes it with a free speech-recognition model and hands you the text. There is no sign-up, no API key, and no paid tier.

How the transcription works

  1. You submit one public Reel URL.
  2. The service retrieves the audio for that Reel and returns it to your browser.
  3. Your browser decodes the audio and runs it through a speech-recognition model that has been downloaded to your device — the first time you use the tool, that model is fetched and cached; after that it is reused.
  4. The resulting text appears in the page, where you can copy it or save it as a .txt file.

Because the recognition step happens on your own device, the audio is not sent to a transcription provider and the transcript is not uploaded anywhere. The trade-off is accuracy: the model used here is small, so it is fast and free rather than perfect.
