How to Download an Instagram Reel Transcript as TXT

On the transcript tool, paste a public Reel link and wait until Done. appears with actual words in the result area. Select Download .txt, then check your browser's download list or Downloads folder for instagram-reel-transcript.txt. Open the file and compare it with the on-screen text before relying on it.

Open the transcript tool
Check the visible transcript, use Download .txt, find the saved file, then compare the file with the text on screen.
A saved file, not a button click or download notification, is the useful confirmation.

What the live check found

On October 5, 2026, we used the public example Reel link already present in XAPN's input. In the Codex in-app browser, the tool reached Done. and displayed 1,149 characters of recognized text. We selected Download .txt after that completed run. An automated listener for a browser download event timed out, which initially made the outcome look uncertain.

We then checked the machine's Downloads folder directly. A newly saved instagram-reel-transcript (2).txt file was present with a modified time corresponding to this run. It contained 1,149 UTF-8 bytes and 1,149 characters. A checksum computed independently from the visible result and the saved file was the same in both places. That is evidence that this particular file held the displayed text, despite the missing event in the browser automation layer.

That test does not establish that every browser will choose the same folder or filename. Browsers may add a number to avoid replacing an older file, as happened here. It also does not certify the recognized words against the Reel's audio. We deliberately do not reproduce the Reel's transcript in this article.

Check your own download

  1. Confirm the result contains words; do not download while the tool is still fetching, decoding, or transcribing.
  2. Select Download .txt. Look in the browser's download list, then its configured download folder if no notification appears.
  3. Open the newest file whose name begins instagram-reel-transcript. A numbered suffix may distinguish it from an earlier download.
  4. Compare a few places with the on-screen result, especially the beginning and end. Review the wording against the audio before publishing or quoting it.

A missing download notification does not prove the file was not saved. Conversely, a visible button does not prove the file contains the right text. Check the file itself.

What TXT does and does not contain

This export is plain recognized text. It does not include the video, audio, timestamps, speaker labels, or an SRT/VTT subtitle structure. If you need to paste the words into another app without a file, use the tested Copy control. If no transcript appears at all, start with the failure-stage guide; downloading cannot recover words the tool has not produced.

Questions

Why did the filename gain a number? In our test, earlier files with the default name already existed. The browser saved a new numbered file rather than using the same name again. Check the modified time so you open the current run.

Does a TXT file prove the transcript is accurate? No. It preserves the recognized text, including any speech-recognition mistakes. Listen and correct it before using it as a quotation.

A TXT file preserves words but adds no timing information. The Instagram to text workflow creates the plain-text draft before you download it. Open the saved file once to confirm it contains the result you reviewed.
