Will Your Instagram Reel Transcript Survive a Page Refresh?

Do not rely on it. XAPN's current tool places the recognized text in the page and provides Copy and Download .txt, but no transcript history or reload-restoration step. Save the result before refreshing, closing the tab, or starting another run.

A finished transcript is visible in the page; copy or download it before refreshing or beginning a new run.
Preserve the finished result while it is still visible.

What the live page code shows

On October 9, 2026 (Los Angeles time), we inspected the HTML and script returned by the live XAPN homepage. The result area starts with No transcript yet.. When speech recognition finishes, the button handler puts the model output into that element's textContent. It does not write the result to a transcript list, a user account, local storage, session storage, or IndexedDB in the served page code.

At the start of another Get transcript click, the same handler clears the result element before fetching audio. The site's Copy handler reads the current result element and writes it to the clipboard; Download .txt builds a text blob from that same element. Neither action creates an in-page history. The two actions are ways to preserve a finished result outside the live result area, not a promise that the page can restore it.

We checked the public response itself for the storage APIs named above and found none. We also inspected the current button handlers, not just the site's privacy text. That is direct evidence about this version of the page. It does not rule out a browser extension, an external clipboard manager, or a future version of XAPN storing something separately.

Test boundary: the browser-control tool was unavailable during this check, so we did not perform a live refresh-after-transcription experiment. The practical advice follows from the served page's initialization and result-handling code; it is not presented as a measured browser session.

Keep the words before they disappear

  1. Wait for Done. and verify the result contains actual words.
  2. Use Copy and paste into a document, or use Download .txt and open the saved file.
  3. Check the saved text against the visible result, then review any quotations against the original audio.

Saving the text also matters before a second transcription run: the current handler clears the old result immediately. If the audio fetch or recognition then fails, the previous on-page words are no longer there. A saved file or pasted copy gives you something to return to without pretending that the site maintains a personal archive.

Questions

Does the site keep a transcript history? No history feature appears in the current tool interface or served result-handling code. Keep your own copy if you need it later.

Is a successful download enough? Open the file and compare it to the visible words. A button click alone does not verify what was saved.

A refreshed page should not be treated as transcript storage. After you turn an Instagram Reel into text, copy or download the result before navigating away. Reopening the URL does not restore an unsaved draft.
